While there are plenty of Bed and Breakfast accommodation options in Yungaburra, holiday rentals are generally more popular and a better option for larger groups of friends and families. And, if a private, spacious house with beautiful views and room for up to 20 people is what you’re looking for, Park House is a fantastic holiday rental property.
Park House is the perfect base for anyone wanting to spend a few days or even a week exploring the Atherton Tablelands or enjoying Lake Tinaroo, which is only a short distance away.
We recently stayed here with a few other families and found there was plenty of room for everyone since the house and property is incredibly spacious.
And, if children are a part of your group they will absolutely LOVE it.
sleeping arrangements
One of the greatest features about Park House is the ‘Bunk House’.
Kids will think staying at Park House is the best slumber party ever as they can all sleep in one large room with four sets of bunks. Each one is a King single size and with plenty of head room, even for adults.
There is also a television and dvd player in here and an area at the end of each bunk for luggage.
This room can be booked along with the large outdoor room and downstairs bathroom, if you are travelling as a smaller group. This is obviously cheaper than renting the whole house.
Apart from the Bunk House, inside the main house are three bedrooms upstairs which include a King size bedroom and two rooms with double beds, while downstairs there are two king single beds and two singles (one of each is a trundle bed) and a sofa bed in the lounge.
There are also extra mattresses and a portacot if needed. And there is an upstairs and downstairs bathroom plus laundry facilities, which is great if you are spending a lot of time at Lake Tinaroo and need to wash endless towels.
where to cook…inside or out?
You really are spoilt for choice at Park House with an indoor AND outdoor kitchen, a large barbecue and a huge pizza oven off the back veranda.
We enjoyed delicious homemade pizzas on our first night and we all ate at the large outdoor table overlooking the spacious backyard.
Both kitchens stock all appliances, crockery and utensils and the inside kitchen has a coffee machine if you can’t live without it. You just need to bring your own coffee pods.
built for relaxation
Park House has a calm and relaxing atmosphere throughout the property, both inside and out.
Inside, the architect-designed house features lovely high cathedral-sloping ceilings in the entranceway and lounge room, which automatically gives you a feeling of open space.
And the owners of the property have stuck with a neutral colour palette throughout with splashes of light blue, which also adds to the calm surrounds.
Outside is a large entertaining area with a massive wrought iron firepit for cold nights (it is often much cooler in the evenings in the Atherton Tablelands than in Cairns) or just for toasting marshmallows.
We loved the firepit and it was the main communal area in the evenings for everyone to sit around.
The enormous back garden is perfect for backyard cricket, frisbee and outdoor games. Our kids played endless games of cricket here and at night explored the garden by torchlight looking for nocturnal wildlife.
If you’re lucky you can spot echidnas, possums and bandicoots, but you need to be quiet not to scare them away.
And when the water level at Lake Tinaroo is over 80 percent, there is a river which runs right up to the back of the garden so you can enjoy kayaking and canoeing as well.
It is just so easy to chill out here and enjoy the property, whether you’re a kid or an adult.
perfect location
Only minutes from the centre of town in Yungaburra, where you can visit tea houses, country markets and bookshops, and five minutes from the Tinaburra boat ramp at Lake Tinaroo (beside the Avenue of Honour), Park House is ideally located.
We spent a lot of time out on the water during our stay here and then relaxed in the afternoons back at Park House.
We loved how peaceful and quiet it was and all the extras that Park House offered like the firepit, pizza oven and especially the Bunk House.
It is the kind of place you create wonderful memories and will want to come back to again and again.
