We recently spent an incredible weekend at Coconut Grove in a terrace apartment and had our very own pool on our large private balcony that overlooked Macrossan Street (the main street in Port Douglas).
We couldn’t believe we’d never heard about this place before. How did we not know about it?
wow factor
Oozing a luxurious vibe, this place is so spacious and well designed that you can’t help but feel right at home.
In fact, you may not want to leave.
In our apartment there were three bedrooms, including a room with queen size bed, a room with two single beds with access through to the main bathroom and a master suite with a walk-in-robe and an enormous ensuite with freestanding spa bath and separate shower.
And Coconut Grove Apartments provide the most exquisite toiletries too I might add, with L’Occitane products containing divine essential oils.
But there’s more…the master bedroom also opens up onto the balcony, which lets in a gorgeous balmy breeze at the end of a warm day and the morning sun.
first impressions…no george clooney
First impressions really count and when you initially walk into the apartment past the first two bedrooms, the entrance then opens out into the kitchen and main living area.
The first thing I noticed was the Dolce coffee machine, even before the view of our balcony.
Unfortunately George Clooney didn’t come with the coffee machine, but I was still impressed with the state-of-the art kitchen.
And we loved the big island bench that doubled as the dining table and also our table for board games. The lounge was also well designed, spacious and opened up onto the balcony.
balcony with the lot
Looking up at the terrace apartments from the street, you have no idea just what lies behind the glass barrier and the balconies look just like…well balconies.
But the terrace apartments all feature pools and spas on each individual balcony, as well as an entertaining area with barbecue, table and chairs and lounge chairs by the pool.
And at night you can swim in your own pool or stand on the edge of your balcony with a glass of wine just watching the world go by on the street below.
location, location, location
Coconut Grove Apartments really are in the perfect location since they’re smack-bang in the middle of Macrossan Street with Four Mile Beach only 140 metres away, a popular swim beach which is manned by surf life guards during the day.
And on the other side of the apartment building in Macrossan Street, there are endless boutiques, restaurants, the Port Douglas markets and the iconic jetty.
So it’s central, close to everything and easy to find because as you drive into Port Douglas, the first building you actually see as you arrive at the Macrossan Street crossroad, is Coconut Grove Apartments right in front of you.
resort or apartment?
Port Douglas is brimming with accommodation options, so visitors are spoilt when it comes to choosing where to stay.
There are certainly plenty of beautiful resorts on offer but if you feel like a bit more privacy and being right in the centre of town, then maybe Coconut Grove Apartments is the place for you.
